We Blog Now, Why Not?

I've been a gamer for a long time. Let me expand, I have been playing all sorts of games since I was little. Sure I'm including board games and cards, and I'm talking about tabletop games like Warhammer and D&D (for added proof, see the Research Blog I made for an English Composition course a few years back) as well, but really I mean video games.

My first console was the Nintendo 64. I got it for Christmas when I was 5 years old along with a copy of Mario Kart 64, and though my dad probably really got it for himself, and we played Mario Kart as a family quite a bit, I definitely played the most. I cut my teeth on that console. I grew up on Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooie, Diddy Kong Racing, Goldeneye, Banjo Tooie, Cruisin' USA, and more titles that I can't even recall. But at a certain point I started to dwindle on gaming, even though I had gotten an XBox for Christmas (again I think my dad bought it more for himself).

This was my life when I was a kid
And then my cousin introduced me to Halo. Suddenly I was playing games religiously again. My small pile of games grew bigger and bigger as I started devouring their stories. Halo, Jet Set Radio Future, Kung-Fu Chaos, Destroy All Humans (which I'll be writing a blog about the remake soon), Need for Speed: Underground, and the Tony Hawk series all got me up in the morning and kept me up way too late in the night when I was still in middle school. Since then I've gained a collection of over 100 XBox, XBox 360, XBox One, PS3, PS4, and Nintendo Switch games, as well as a plethora of Game Boy cartridges of all shapes and sizes (unfortunately no Series X or PS5 😭). I still stay up way too late.

Obviously, the year is now 2021, and in the past 25 years, I've had many opinions about games and their stories and their quality, and I decided that I could start writing about them in a way that would make me... well it would get weird ideas out of my head.

Some blogs may get long-winded. Some blogs may be crackpot theories. Some blogs may be just plain boring or weird. I don't expect a following, I don't know how often I'll blog, but fuck it, we blog now, why not?
